If You Have Any Antique Clocks…Keep Them. They May Be Valuable Keepsakes
February 19, 2008
Been shopping for antique clocks lately?
It’s strange that when something is new they are fascinating and cutting edge. Then they become a common place. After a century or so, they become rare, untouchable museum pieces or antiques. An antique clock is not different. It acts as a representation of the time past, a reflection of the culture transformed.
Or it may just look great!
Antique clocks may be bought for several reasons. Perhaps to recreate an era, possibly as an investment or just to enhance the aesthetic value of a wall.
Antique grand father clocks are one of the things that can be bought, provided there is space; lots and lots of space. A good place for an antique clock would be a castle or a mansion of course, but isn’t your home also your castle.
If one has a romantic bent, one could purchase antique French clocks.
Having antique clocks at home is not without it’s share of problems. The fact that they are old and require maintenance and care can be a source of challenges. For instance, they may stop reading accurate time. Either running few minutes (or even a few hours ahead) or simply slowing down to a stop. A good idea would be to have a shop near by that provides maintenance and, of course, this will insure that your antique clocks are well kept and functioning smoothly.

Grandfather Clocks Bring a Sense of Awe?Theyre So Tall
February 17, 2008
Standing tall and big are the stately grandfather clocks. They are huge, immense beings with personalities of their own, and do they tell time. Boy oh boy - do they tell time. They also go ding dong a lot. At least the antique grand father clocks would.
One has to realize that grandfather clocks are less about time than they are about other things.
What are those other things, one might wonder?
Grandfather clocks are about making a statement of style. Well, at least if it is going to occupy half the wall space in one’s living room.
A Grand father clock needn’t always be bought, one can also build them. You read right - One can also build them. Grandfather clock plans are available to anybody who’s interested in building one. If that is too intimidating one could get access to grandfather clock kits as well.
Isn’t that making life easy!
Making grand father clocks isn’t always a choice of someone who’s oriented toward building something. Some people simply enjoy shopping for a grand father clock.
What is Your Security Awareness IQ?
February 16, 2008
Are you aware of the need for security?
Your awareness of the need for security, is the best place to begin a discussion on physical property security. What is security awareness? Our definition is multi-faceted, and includes the ability to identify known and unknown threats, being aware of the technologies, products and services that can defuse those threats, knowing how to operate the products and systems you have, and most importantly the awareness that these systems must be used, and must be used all of the time. This security awareness may be more important to the security of your home and business than any of the security hardware or systems you install. Why is this? Any lock or security system, will not do you any good unless, You use it!
An old adage states that “locks only keep honest people honest”, and is possibly very true. If the “bad guys” really want to get in, all we can really hope for is to slow them down. If you, with our help, choose and have installed the correct hardware and/or systems, we CAN slow them down - or at least discourage them from threatening your loved ones and your property.
Where Did We Get Clocks From Anyway?
February 15, 2008
A clock is simply a device that measures time. Typical clocks have faces and hands. The long hand measures time in minutes while the short hand in hours. Clocks vary in forms, sizes and shapes but all perform the same task-to tell time. Almost all activities depend on this device, making life easier and more organized.
History of Clocks.
Way back during the old times, people rely on sun and water to measure time. Time readings were not accurate then, not until the discovery of mechanical and electrical clocks. A mechanical clock is composed of a set of gears, a spring and a weight that is responsible for the clock’s movement, while an electrical clock uses electricity or battery as a power source. Later on, modern technology introduced atomic and digital clocks and still continues to study for ways to improve it.
Varieties of Clocks.
There are many different kinds of clocks. A clock that displays the current time in different parts of the world is called a world clock. A world clock is divided into zones. Each zone represents a group of countries sharing the same time.

Trust Your Plants - They Know How To Grow!
February 14, 2008
I’ve done a lot of container gardening over the years, and one thing is a given for potted plants: it’s a life of constant change. Moving around from one part of the garden, patio or sunroom to another, moving indoors and back outdoors again, and of course the inevitable periodic re-potting. It’s a wonder that plants do so well given this life of constant upheaval, but the key seems to be to just tend to their basic needs and let them do what comes naturally.
When re-potting, it’s a good idea in general not to disturb the root ball too much, but many plants actually benefit from having the outer surface of the root ball scuffed up a bit. This is particularly true of plants which have become rootbound, exhibiting a tangled network of roots around the outside of the soil, straining against the inner surface of the pot.
